Join Our Editorial Board
Advances in Inclusive Education Research (AIER) is a peer-reviewed academic journal committed to advancing high-quality, rigorous research in inclusive education. As the journal continues to grow, we are seeking to expand our editorial board with experienced academics and practitioners who share our commitment to scholarly excellence and inclusive practice. Serving on the editorial board is a significant responsibility that directly shapes the quality, credibility, and impact of the research we publish. Board members are trusted to uphold the highest standards of academic integrity, ensure fair and rigorous peer review, and help guide the journal's development as a respected voice in the field of inclusive education.
Why this role matters:
Editorial board members are central to the journal's mission. Through careful review and thoughtful guidance, they help ensure that published research meets rigorous academic standards, contributes meaningfully to the field, and reflects diverse perspectives and methodologies. This is not a purely symbolic appointment. Board members are expected to engage actively with the review process, provide substantive feedback, and contribute to decisions that shape the direction and reputation of the journal over time.
Who we're looking for:
- A doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in education or a closely related field
- A demonstrated record of research and publication in inclusive education, special educational needs, pedagogy, or a related area
- Prior experience with academic peer review, ideally with recognised journals
- A strong understanding of research methodology across quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods approaches
- A genuine commitment to open access publishing, academic rigor, and the values of inclusive education
- The capacity to dedicate meaningful time to reviewing manuscripts thoughtfully and thoroughly
Responsibilities:
- Reviewing submitted manuscripts within agreed timeframes and providing detailed, constructive feedback
- Evaluating research for methodological soundness, originality, and relevance to the field
- Upholding standards of academic integrity and confidentiality throughout the review process
- Contributing to editorial discussions and decisions regarding manuscript acceptance
- Supporting special issues, thematic calls for papers, or strategic initiatives as needed
- Acting as an ambassador for the journal within your professional and academic networks
How to apply:
We welcome applications from qualified academics and practitioners who are ready to take on this responsibility. To apply, please send your CV along with a statement (150 words maximum) outlining your research background, relevant experience, and reasons for wanting to join the editorial board to editorial@aierjournal.uk. Applications are reviewed carefully, and shortlisted candidates may be contacted for further discussion.
Closing line:
We are looking for colleagues who take this role seriously and are ready to contribute meaningfully to the future of inclusive education research. We look forward to reviewing your application.
