An Invitation to Think Together About Inclusive Education

It is my privilege to welcome you to the inaugural issue of Advances in Inclusive Education Research. A new journal is, in one sense, an act of optimism — it assumes that there is still more to say about inclusive education, still more to learn about how diverse learners learn, and still a community of scholars and practitioners willing to say and learn it together.

Inclusive education is among the most important and complex challenges facing education systems worldwide. How do we ensure that every learner, regardless of ability, background, or circumstance, has genuine access to high-quality education? How do we move beyond mere inclusion in name to create learning environments that are truly equitable, participatory, and empowering? This journal exists to pursue those questions rigorously, and to bridge the too-often separate worlds of research and practice.

I also want this journal to listen widely. Some of the most resourceful and innovative approaches to inclusive education are being developed in countries working under real constraints, and these deserve a global audience. I therefore especially encourage submissions from scholars and practitioners in developing countries.

A journal is only as strong as the community that contributes to it. We are committed to fair, constructive, and timely peer review. Your work belongs here.
